Mike Grant and Mary Grant
During owner Mike Grant’s 50+ years in construction he has been involved in nearly every type of building project. He completed over 100 construction projects as a superintendent/estimator before starting his own business in 1987. He has overseen many hundreds of projects since then, greatly enhancing his experience base. Mike primarily works in project development, estimating, project management and administration.
Owner Mary Grant has a working knowledge of all aspects of the business from more than 30 years in the industry. Mary currently works in administration, marketing, public relations and project development in addition to estimating, purchasing and personnel decisions.
Mike and Mary have been married for 45 years and have four children, ten grandchildren and two great grandsons. They are active members of the Mt. Angel community and have each been named Mt. Angel’s First Citizen. Much of their free time is spent traveling, but they also enjoy working around their hazelnut orchard and in their shop. Mike never met a toy or a tool he didn’t “need” and Mary is known as that crazy biking lady.
Owner Christiane Kraemer, Mike & Mary’s daughter, has been in construction since 1988. Starting as a finish carpenter and cabinet installer as a teen, she has since become our office manager and serves as project manager on our larger projects. She and her husband have four children and two grandsons. They love to travel and camp and spending time on a never-ending list of projects at their farm.
Lisa Stadeli joined our office staff in 2008, taking over the payroll and accounts payable and numerous other tasks in the office. She does a fantastic job of keeping everything organized and up to date. Lisa and her husband and two children can often be found fishing for whatever is in season now that their house remodel is done.
Jay Augustus joined our company in 2016 as a project manager and estimator. He grew up working in his family’s lumberyard, served in the Army, and worked many years as a lumber salesman. Jay’s background in customer service shows through in the way he connects with customers. He also has a broad network of contacts to draw from. Jay, his wife and two daughters spend a lot of time with their horses. Anytime Jay is not on horse duty, he can be found hunting and fishing.
Dave worked as an engineer on projects up to $300 million before he got tired of the desk job and returned to construction. He started with us in 1993 as a superintendent and leads our more complex projects. He and his wife have three children and two grandkids. They love to travel and spend time with their friends and family. Dave is extremely witty and eventually everyone earns a nickname from him, but we call him SuperDave.
Hank Elsasser has worked for us since 1993, primarily as a superintendent in the field, but also fills in as project manager and estimator when needed. He is also our high-detail furniture craftsman and is constantly busy with projects. Hank and his wife split their spare time between coasts to spend as much time with their kids and grandkids as they can.
Ron came to work for us in 1995 and does a great job as a superintendent. His caring attitude and friendly manner shine through in his dealings with customers and subcontractors. You can’t help but like the guy. Outside of work, Ron is also a volunteer fireman. He and his wife are busy keeping up with their three teens but once in a while he sneaks off to go hunting.
Justin is Mike and Mary’s son. After farming for a few years, he decided to join the family business in 2005. Justin has a great mechanical mind, whether he’s working with wood, equipment or welding. Justin and his wife have three kids, one of whom also works at The Grant Company. When they’re not working on restoring their hundred year old home, they enjoy barbequing and spending time with friends and family.
